Data Committee
The Data Committee is chaired by Dr Les Knight, and is responsible for a wide range of technical developments in the society, and also our involvement in related projects beyond.
Until recently the main project has been the development of our database, which now holds more than 1.3 million records of lichens and lichenicolous fungi and can be accessed through the National Biodiversity Network Gateway . Associated with this have been a major revision of the lichen taxon dictionary and the development of lichen rules for the NBN Record Cleaner. Future projects may include mobile phone apps, online recording, an electronic version of "flora", and further development of the database and website.
Suggestions and offers of practical help are always welcome!
